Elissa Gertler

As Planning and Development Director for Metro, the Portland metropolitan area’s regional government, Elissa oversees a wide range of land use and transportation activities, including growth management, regional transportation planning and policy, transit-oriented development, and economic investment projects, and works with 28 cities and 3 counties to help them accomplish their community development goals. Before joining Metro, Elissa was the Director of Public and Government Affairs for Clackamas County, Oregon. For nearly a decade prior to that, Elissa worked at Portland Development Commission in the areas of community and economic development, and public and government affairs. In addition to her public sector experience, Elissa’s work for various community and business organizations has shaped her deep commitment to ensuring that diverse stakeholders are effectively engaged and that multiple perspectives are reflected in government decisions about important issues that affect them.
