Planning for Electric Vehicles in New Homes

Between the passing of Oregon House Bill 2165 for alternative fuel transportation and establishing the new Oregon Electrical Vehicles Roadmap, support for electric vehicles in Oregon is on the rise. Energy Trust of Oregon is making it easier for builders to plan for electric vehicles in new homes. This session will share best practices to design for future electric vehicle charging equipment in new homes and how to take advantage of incentives from Energy Trust and utilities. In addition, this session will address the following:

  • Brief history of electric vehicles’ growing presence along the West Coast
  • Walkthrough of Energy Trust EPS New Construction electric vehicle ready requirements for new homes
  • Different categories of electric vehicle charging equipment and utility offers
  • Overview of incentive requirements and amounts for new energy-smart homes participating in EPS New Construction
